Silicon carbide deoxidizer is a novel composite deoxidizer, which can replace ferrosilicon powder and alloy powder, which are more expensive traditional deoxidizers, and is suitable for deoxidation during smelting of general steel, alloy steel and special steel. It has the advantages of early slag, thick reducing atmosphere, rich foam, etc. It can also effectively improve the recovery rate of elements, and also has the effect of carburizing, replacing part of carburizing agents, which greatly reduces the cost of steelmaking.
 
The use of silicon carbide in steelmaking:
1. The molten steel is deoxidized with silicon carbide, and the continuous casting slab must be able to obtain the correct solidification structure. Silicon carbide has two commonly used basic varieties, black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, both of which belong to α-SiC.
2. After using silicon carbide to deoxidize, the oxygen content in the steel will decrease, and at the same time, defects such as subcutaneous bubbles and looseness will rarely appear, thereby improving the quality of molten steel.
3. In the process of rational use of silicon carbide, it can also desulfurize molten steel.
4. In addition, the quality of molten steel can be stabilized by adding silicon carbide, and it has the effect of refining grains and removing harmful impurities in molten steel. After use, the casting temperature of molten steel is high and the quality of casting slab is good.
